The idea behind Israel4Ukraine’s Food Project is to buy food and supplies as locally as possible and deliver them to a carefully selected group of people who are desperately in need. This approach efficiently solves a number of issues: it delivers food to precisely the people who need it; avoids corruption along a cumbersome supply chain; saves a huge amount in transportation; and, supports the local economy - from food producers to retailers.

The key to our solution is a network of trusted local volunteers who know the community and are heavily engaged in providing support to those who need it. Since the war started, Israel4Ukraine volunteers have built relationships with local volunteers and established an effective process of food purchase and distribution. The project is run entirely by unpaid volunteers.

We are proud to report that 100% of the money donated to this project is converted into food supplies that reach real people. Integrity is something all of us take pride in. We invest a lot of effort in detailed financial, photographic, and video documentation of each step in the process.

We partnered with local volunteer organizations in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv and established mutual trust through several smaller, joint projects. We came up with a family bundle of goods, mostly low-cost food which can be purchased in local stores. We shopped around and got a good deal from local suppliers. For 13 USD (480 UAH), we can provide food supplies to last a family of 4-6 people for more than a week.

We are ready to scale up this project in the most dangerous villages and cities around Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv, which face constant shelling and where people are isolated. Apart from food, our volunteers’ visits are a fantastic source of mental support and help people keep up their spirits.
